You do not get a dial tone when you lift up the receiver. I finally had to uninstall it to make everything else work. We liked the looks of this phone for our kitchen. Because this phone does not work, all of the other phones in the house, as well as our voice mail does not work. Will not get a replacement. Installed the telephone, and in less than 3 months it doesn't work. The receiver arm where you hang up the telephone does not work.
The only thing I wish is that the crank actually made the bells ring. It looks good, even though it does not compare to a truly rebuilt 'old time phone'. Everyone that sees it wants to try that out. This phone works well - not tinny sounding. It is a nice touch in a country kitchen.
It has great reception. Imagine having a drawer that is empty for a short span of time.
Highly recommend the phone for visual ambiance. The only thing I miss is caller id; however, I have another phone on the extension for that.
I have a victorian home with oak cabinets in the kitchen area. There's room to put a pad and pencil for messages and also a small drawer, which I haven't used yet.
Solidly built. This phone not only looks great, it works well too.
I can actually hear what people are saying on the other end of the line.
Nice touch to our kitchen. We like these retro items and this phone looks like the real thing from the 20's and works well.
I have trouble hearing on alot of phones, but not this one, it's wonderful and looks great. I bought this phone to replace the old one we called "the tunnel phone" (cause you sounded like you were in a tunnel when you used it). The sound quality and materials used are excellent.
